In September 2004, the University of Oklahoma instituted a significant program designated for the safety of our student body – SAFEride – a FREE designated taxi voucher service.
The goal of SAFEride is to provide OU students with a safe, alternative method of getting home; SAFEride provides free transportation for any reason that an OU student may not feel safe walking, riding or driving. No questions asked.
The SAFEride “taxi service” is a free, on call transportation service designed to serve students with an OU ID, by providing safe, non-judgmental rides home from any location within the city limits of Norman.
The SAFEride services are available to all students, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. These services are for anyone who wants a safe ride, whether they are coming from studying with a friend, a local drinking establishment, a restaurant or a movie.
For a SAFEride please call 325-RIDE (325-7433)
